recognized by the Russian Federation and a visa issued by the Russian diplomatic or consular office abroad, unless other arrangements are stipulated

BUSINESS
for a foreign citizen
entering with a
commercial purpose.
Number of entries / validity period:
- single or double entry /
up to 3 months;
- multiple entry / up to 1 year.
P.S. a multiple entry visa valid for up
to 5 years can be issued if there is a
special agreement signed between
the foreign state and Russia.
TOURIST
for a foreign citizen
entering as a tourist.
Number of entries / validity period:
- single entry / up to 30 days.
P.S. double entry visa can be issued
if the tourist trip to Russia involves
visiting also one of the neighbouring
counties.
PRIVATE
for a foreign citizen
visiting relatives or
friends.
Number of entries / validity period:
- single entry / up to 3 months.
P.S. issuance of double entry visa is
possible in exceptional cases.
STUDENT
for a foreign citizen
entering as a student.
Number of entries / validity period:
- single entry / up to 3 months.
P.S. the visa can be extended later
on the territory of the Russian
Federation for a period up to 1 year.
WORK
for a foreign citizen
entering to work.

- single entry / up to 3 months.
P.S. the visa can be extended later
on the territory of the Russian
Federation for a period up to 1 year.
The total period of stay for a multiple business visa is limited to
90 days for each period of 6 months, if a different arrangement is not
stipulated by international agreements.
The period of validity of a tourist visa is the same as the total period
of hotel reservations, but no more than 30 days.
It is allowed to enter on a tourist visa (special purpose tourism) to
conduct commercial negotiations with Russian partners, take part in
exhibitions, conferences, seminars, etc.
Extension of a single entry work or student visa is done by way of
issuance of a multiple entry visa for the duration of:
- a study agreement in case of a student visa;
- labour or civil contract for provision of works (services) in case
of a work visa.
For foreign workers with the status of highly qualified specialists, a
multiple entry work visa with validity up to 3 years is issued straight
away.
