CONSULAR LEGALIZATION
This is a multi-stage procedure
that certifies the compliance of
a document with the legislation,
the authenticity of signatures,
seals, and stamps by the compe-
tent authorities of its country of
origin and by the Consulate of
the country where it will be used
APOSTILLE
Simplified legalization, documents
with an Apostille stamp have legal
validity in all member states
of the Hague Convention of 1961

Official bodies accept documents
only in the official language of
their country
Documents in a foreign language
must be translated and certified
by a notary
Documents submitted for notari-
zed translation must be properly

LEGALIZATION
Legalization is the performance
of a series of necessary actions
to give documents legal force in
the territory of another country
There are two main types:
- consular legalization
- apostille
Legalization of documents is
not required:
- if it is not requested by the in-
stitution where the translated
document will be submitted
- when an agreement on the
waiver of document legaliza-
tion has been established
between Russian Federation
and the foreign state
